Start your day in Lambertville with a bit of history. Take a self-guided walking tour to see important historical sites throughout town, like the childhood home of James Wilson Marshall, the man who discovered gold in California in 1848; the Holcombe House, where Gen. George Washington stayed in 1777 and again in 1778; one of Lambertville's oldest homes at 44 Coryell Street; and numerous churches and other notable sites. If you’re interested in how farming shaped this region, visit the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum or the Howell Living History Farm, both dedicated to the preservation of the region's agricultural heritage.
Lambertville is often called the Antique Store Capital of New Jersey, and it’s easy to see why. If you’re a fan of antiques, you’ll want to dedicate some serious time to exploring the shops here. Start with the People’s Store Antique Center, a four-level treasure trove with countless dealers offering everything from vintage furniture to rare collectibles. A Touch of the Past Antiques, Union Gallery, and the popular Golden Nugget Antique Market are just a few more stops you’ll want to make—each one offering its own unique shopping experience.
If art is more your speed, Lambertville won’t disappoint. The town is home to more than two dozen galleries, showcasing works from local and regional artists. Stop by the Milou Gallery for pop art, Haas Gallery for oil paintings, or check out Artists' Gallery and Cross Pollination Gallery for a mix of styles from multiple artists. You could truly spend a full day in Lambertville's galleries alone!
When you work up an appetite after all of that exploring, refuel at Lambertville's fantastic selection of top-notch restaurants. If you’re in the mood for fine dining with a view, the historic Lambertville Station is a great choice. For something a bit more intimate, try D’Floret Restaurant, known for its farm-to-table approach. If you’re craving something international, El Tule offers authentic Mexican and Peruvian dishes, while Taverna 54 serves up delicious Italian cuisine. Try the Under the Moon Cafe for more casual dining and great cocktails.
Make it dinner and a show by catching a matinee or evening performance at Music Mountain Theatre. On stage this fall are Beauty and the Beast from Sept. 13 to Oct. 6 and Clue from Oct. 11-27, followed by a trio of Christmas shows. Or maybe you'd rather get a taste for local wines with a visit to Angelico Winery. Using grapes from their own vineyard and Old World Italian wine-making methods, this boutique winery offers vineyard tours and guided tastings in a restored barn. With live music on the weekends, it’s a lovely way to wind down after a day of exploring.
